Kenilworth Network Outage

There is currently a network outage affecting UWM networks at the Kenilworth building. At this time residential networks there appear unaffected. UITS Network Engineering staff are investigating the cause.

UWM Networks at Kenilworth are isolated from the UWM Campus and internet.

09/08/2025 9:52 AM - This outage is due to disruption of fiber optic lines between Kenilworth and the UWM Kenwood Campus.

09/08/2025 9:52 AM - This work is outside of the control of the university, and the fiber providers and ISPs involved have notified UWM that this work may last until 3pm today. Until that time, non-residential networks at Kenilworth will be inaccessible.

09/08/2025 7:35 PM - All connections to Kenilworth remain offline. UWM Network Engineering staff have reached out to contacts and are waiting to hear any information on resolution.

09/08/2025 7:35 PM - All local attempts by UWM staff to regain connectivity have been unsuccessful as the reliance on affected fiber optic connections is unavoidable.

09/08/2025 8:38 PM - UITS Network Engineering has been told the work being done on fiber optic connections by outside parties has gone well beyond the expected timeframe and is continuing as of this time. We do not have an ETA for recovery, but expect to be updated with that information and will update this post when we know more information.

09/09/2025 7:19 AM - Kenilworth remains offline with no ETA for recovery. UITS Network Engineering staff will continue to work with all parties necessary and share any updates here.
