UW System Board of Regents Meeting at UWM
Greetings!
On behalf of everyone at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, I look forward to welcoming you to the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents’ visit to our campus June 5 and 6. Our theme this year is: Celebrating Our Tripartite Mission of Access, Research and Engagement.
Come see for yourself why we call UW-Milwaukee a “unicorn.” UWM is one of two top-tier research universities in the state, and we are Wisconsin’s only university that is both an R1 and an access institution. Add to that our focus on community engagement, and UWM rises to one of only 30 universities in the nation that are recognized by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as research intensive, access oriented and community engaged.
UWM has deep ties within Milwaukee, and our partnerships have made us stronger. On Thursday, we will recognize one of our premier collaborations and what this relationship has meant for our state when we present the Regent Business Partnership Award.
You will notice our campus continues to evolve, and we look forward to hosting you at our Thursday evening reception, which will take place in our new Chemistry Building.
June is an ideal time to explore all Milwaukee has to offer. Enjoy a walk along the lakefront, dinner at any of our outstanding restaurants, a concert at a local venue or an art exhibition.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Mark A. Mone, PhD
Chancellor
