Genealogy Collections at UWM
The UWM Archives holds a wide range of collections that support genealogy research. These include:
- Birth Records
- Census Records
- Church, Synagogue, and Cemetery Records
- Civil, Criminal, Fire, Jail, and Police Records
- Death Records
- Marriage Records
- Name Change Records
- Naturalization Records
- Property Records
- Tax Records
Many records, especially of fraternal, political or social groups, or trade-unions, can be of great use to genealogists, but are rarely examined. In many cases, these records can fill the gaps normally found after using the usual birth, death, marriage, and naturalization records.
