UWM’s 5th annual International Dessert Competition a success!

The 5th Annual UWM International Competition featured 23 desserts, all made by UWM students, most of whom are world language and culture students. We had terrific turnout from members of campus and the broader community. We are so grateful for the judges who volunteered their time and expertise, the area businesses that donated prizes, the university programs that shared necessary resources, the university employees who volunteered time and energy to organize and run the event, and of course the students who prepared all of the delicious entries. Thanks to Chancellor Mark Mone for coming by to help hand out prizes to our deserving students!

The first place team winners were Ewurama Okine and Loretta Mulberry of Team Shuga n Spyce, whose Chocolate Nkate Cake with Sobolo Ice Cream (a Ghanaian/US fusion dish) also won the People’s Choice team and overall award. The first place individual winner was Maiko Minagawa, whose Green Tea Opera Cake also received the People’s Choice (individual) award; Maiko was also the 2017 Individual and People’s Choice winner! See the complete list of 2018 individual and team winners here.
