UWM’s language programs offer regular opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community members to have informal conversations in languages other than English, outside of the classroom. All levels welcome. Language tables meet in the Language Oasis, Curtin 187 (3243 N. Downer Ave., on the main campus), unless otherwise noted.

French: Wednesdays, 12:00-1:00pm

Gaelic/Irish: Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:15-1:15pm in Merrill G42; Sundays, 10:00-11:00am at Colectivo Cafe Prospect (2211 N. Prospect Ave., Milwaukee)

German: the following Tuesdays, 12:00-1:00pm, in CRT 866: 2/18, 2/25, 3/10, 3/24, 4/7

Italian: Every other Tuesday (2/11, 2/25, 3/10, 3/24, 4/7, 4/21), 3:00-4:00pm

Japanese: Tuesdays, 2:00-3:00pm

Latin: Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30pm, in Curtin Hall 866

Portuguese: Wednesdays, 2:00-3:30pm

Russian: Fridays, 2:00-4:00pm, in the Gasthaus (Lower Level, UWM Union)

Spanish: all levels: Mondays, 2:00-3:00pm (Language Oasis) and Tuesdays, 11:00am-12:00pm (Language Oasis); advanced levels: Thursdays, 3:00-4:00pm (Language Oasis); for health students (from all schools and colleges): 10:30-11:30am, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays (2/12, 2/26, 3/11, 3/25, 4/8, 4/22) at the Zilber School of Public Health, Rm 150, 1240 N 10th St (shuttle available from main campus)

Also: Polyglot MKE holds monthly meetings for people who speak more than two languages or would like to in the future! Stop by for conversations and language lessons with other polyglots and aspiring polyglots on the first Wednesday of the month, 5:30-6:30pm, in the Language Oasis.
