Brent Schumacher

  • Operational Meteorologist, Weathernet

My name is Brent Schumacher. I'm in my fifth year and final semester at UW-Milwaukee, studying Atmospheric Science. I grew up in Waukesha and currently am living in Milwaukee for school and work. I actually come from an engineering background; having gone to the Waukesha STEM Academy for middle school, the Waukesha South Engineering Preparatory Academy for high school, and beginning my college studies at UW-Madison studying Electrical Engineering. Sometimes life doesn't go as intended, and I ended up dropping out of UW-Madison and transferring to UW-Milwaukee. I've always had a strong interest in the weather and a lot of my credits transferred over well, so I decided to give Atmospheric Science a shot. So far it has been going very well and I've been blessed to be able to work at Innovative Weather since the summer of 2021, where I've been gaining a ton of invaluable experience in forecasting and professional skills. As for my hobbies, I am very active. I regularly weight lift and run, and play a lot of soccer and beach volleyball during the summer. I'm also very into traveling when I get the chance, and especially trying local foods in places that I visit. I'm very excited to see what opportunities will await me after graduating, as the field of meteorology has a ton of different applications and I could end up anywhere in the country or world for my career.
