Megan Biesmann
- Air Quality Specialist, HDR
My name is Megan Biesmann, and I am in my 3rd year at UWM. When growing up, if there was a storm coming in, my dad and I would bike to the nearby park to watch it come in. After that, I developed a curiosity in severe weather but never thought about making my interest into a career until my senior year of high school. I am from the Madison area, so I spent a lot of my time on the lakes and biking around the many paths and roads that are in the area. I also spent a lot of time playing sports, including hockey and lacrosse. Now that I’m in Milwaukee, I still spend as much time as I can outdoors, especially by Lake Michigan, and playing for the UWM women’s lacrosse club team. Last summer, I was able to do an REU in New Hampshire and do research on the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, a forest a few miles from where I was staying. It was a lot of fun to participate in an REU because I was able to make a lot of friends in the meteorology field and get experience in research early on in my education.
