SOIS Research Presentation: Digital Preservation at University Archives in the United States

April 26, 2023 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Abstract:

Archives are known for their vital role in preserving unique materials. Current advances in technology redefined this role by adding a new responsibility for handling and preserving digital content. University archives dedicate time, effort, and sources to conduct digital preservation for their digital collections to ensure future access. There is a need to further investigate how university archives conduct digital preservation and explore the challenges encountered. This presentation introduces a large-scale study that focuses on digital preservation at university archives in the United States. The preliminary findings about digital preservation practices and challenges will be discussed.
