Opt-Out of Health Insurance

If you do not want to enroll in the State Group Health Insurance program, you may be eligible to opt-out and earn an incentive payment. Opting-out of health insurance is contingent upon meeting certain eligibility requirements, which may include providing proof of other minimum health care coverage for yourself and your dependents.

For detailed information about the opt-out incentive, the eligibility requirements, and the consequences of opting-out, please see the UW System and Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) webpages below. Please also contact UWM’s Benefits Office (benefits@uwm.edu) if you have any questions about the opt-out incentive.
