Since 2016 Alberto Maldonado has served as the Lead for the Chancellors Committee for Hispanic Student Initiatives (CCHSI), areas of engagement with the community and implementation of commitments made by the Chancellor. In his role he helps moderate several groups including the CCHSI Working Group, recruitment and retention sub-committees. In these groups he works with different campus stakeholders to determine goals and strategies that are helping increase resources and create high impact practices in the areas of recruitment, retention and fund development.
In his 24 year trajectory at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Mr. Maldonado has championed numerous initiatives in the areas of Pre-College, Community Outreach, Admissions, Multicultural Recruitment, and Academic Advising. Among the many things he has helped coordinate includes, the Annual Bilingual Open House at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, the Milwaukee National Hispanic College fair, the co-creation of the Undocumented Student Campus Task Force and the establishment of the “Excelencia en la Musica” scholarship fund. Alberto actively serves on a few community boards including the UWM Alumni Association, Carmen School of Science and Technology, All of Us with the Medical College of Wisconsin. Alberto also serves in several key UWM campus committees including Moon Shot for Equity, the 2030 Think Tank, and as Chair of the Multicultural Network. He often volunteers his time in the Milwaukee community providing insights and education about college access and affordability to parents and students.
