Chancellor Thomas Gibson

Welcome to the 134th University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Commencement!

Today we celebrate our graduates’ perseverance, growth and achievements that led to this moment.

The Class of 2026 arrived here after years of hard work. They overcame obstacles and pursued their goals with determination and grit. When I speak of “student success,” this is what I mean. Today’s graduates embody that success.

But their path to this day was not a solo journey. Along the way, they had friends, family, instructors and mentors, many of whom are sitting in the audience today, encouraging them. Your role in giving our graduates the support they needed to stay focused and moving forward did not go unnoticed.

To our guests, thank you for cheering on your graduate. Today we celebrate not only their achievement but your support as well.

To the Class of 2026, congratulations! You are now proud alumni. As you move on to your next adventures, please stay connected with UWM. I have no doubt you will continue to make us all proud.

On behalf of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, I wish you a bright and prosperous future!

Best,

Dr. Thomas Gibson, Chancellor
