A graduate certificate is not a graduate degree. It’s a credential you earn after gaining specialized knowledge in a short, intensive program offered by UWM.

A graduate certificate is a credential that equips you with foundational knowledge and skills in a particular field of study. While it doesn’t replace a master’s degree, it can still prove competence in an area and be featured on your resume and is geared toward those who wish to advance their skills and knowledge to remain competitive in the workforce.

Certificates can help you prepare for a master’s degree, help you adapt to changes in your career, and improve your skill set and professional development.
