Students enrolled in a UWM-Sponsored Study Abroad program may be eligible for additional financial aid and federal student loans to help fund the increased costs associated with studying abroad. All students pursuing a Study Abroad program (UWM Sponsored or non-UWM Sponsored) should work with the Center for International Education to make sure all the necessary forms are completed, and should develop a Financial Plan to understand their Study Abroad cost and financial aid options.
Study Abroad Scholarship and Grant opportunities are available, and students may also apply for additional Direct PLUS Loans or Private Educational Loans to help finance their Study Abroad costs. Students receiving credit through a non-UWM Sponsored Study Abroad program need to submit a Study Abroad Consortium Agreement to be considered for any type of financial aid for that term/semester.
