Students at UWM experience the largest amount of unmet financial need annually across public universities in Wisconsin. When a student receives an offer of federal grants or loans, those offers are typically consistent from one institution to another. But scholarships can be the differentiator that attracts a student to attend UWM, makes it more affordable, or keeps them from transferring to another institution.

UWM has several signature scholarship opportunities that apply to incoming students, and all students can access the Panther Scholarship Portal to learn more.

The mission of the Office of Student Scholarships (OSS) is to promote the recruitment, retention, and academic success of students through the effective implementation and execution of scholarship activities. OSS partners with academic and administrative leaders to design scholarship strategies that promote recruitment and retention, lessening students’ cost of attendance while streamlining administrative efforts related to awarding.

Faculty and staff may request a consultation with OSS staff. Additional information is available at uwm.edu/scholarships.
