Data Warehouse Authorization

The UWM Data Warehouse centralizes a large amount of data mostly sourced from PAWS. This data is organized into tables and views and is available for ad hoc queries.  These queries can be created via business intelligence tools or structured query languages.

Access can be requested through the Data Application Request form.  https://uwm.edu/dar Various domains can be requested and will be routed through the appropriate data custodian for that domain.

Once access is approved, a password will be emailed to the requestor.  This password will be different than the UWM Login and Password.

Permission to the Warehouse assumes the following statements:

  1. The requestor understands and agrees to the Universities of Wisconsin policies on Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources.
  2. The requestor agrees to abide by all FERPA related policies.
  3. The requestor understands that limited training on using the Warehouse is available.  Every opportunity should be made to attend WERIT meetings to further understanding of the Warehouse and be kept informed of any changes to the data.
  4. The requestor understands that the data and information provided by the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research should be considered the official numbers for the University.  Every opportunity must be made to match any personally created queries against their numbers.

Access Auditing

Warehouse access will be re-evaluated for necessity once a year.  The process will include contacting the requestor and the requestor’s supervisor to understand continued access.
