We’re developing statistical tools that can help analyze random point patterns occurring in time and space, such as where robberies take place in a city or the neural activity spikes that happen when someone performs a specific task. These tools, based upon new statistical methods we’re developing, will be applicable to data produced in many different research areas, including neuroscience, ecology, finance, astronomy, seismology, criminology and many others. They’ll allow researchers to approach their data analysis and inferences in new ways.
