UWM earned its reputation for excellent academics thanks our expert faculty, who use innovative approaches to teaching and incorporate real-world experiences to provide students an education they can’t get anywhere else. That’s exactly what students can expect from UWM’s three new data science degree programs. Faculty members from across campus teamed up to develop and design the Bachelor of Science in Data Science (BSDS), Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics (BSDA) and Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) programs collaboratively. The BSDA and MSDS are the newest of the three programs and are designed so that students combine industry-specific coursework – for example, in healthcare – with math and programming coursework to forge a data career within a particular sector. These two programs began in 2022 and are the only programs of their kind offered in Wisconsin. They provide graduates with a skillset coveted by employers around the country. In the Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) program, we understand the needs of working professionals and offer an in-person or online program that will both build your career and enhance your professional networking opportunities.

The BSDS program began in 2021. Historically many students were already achieving the same outcome by double-majoring in both math and computer science. Now they can take advantage of a pre-designed curriculum that includes select courses from the two areas to prepare for a career as a data scientist or data analyst.
