We are a dynamic community of scholars who share a commitment to excellence and innovation in communication research and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. We offer numerous opportunities for undergraduates to participate in faculty and graduate student research to gain hands-on experience, learn more about scholarly work and the creation of new knowledge, and possibly be named in an accepted journal publication.

The field of communication is broad, but our faculty and graduate students have found success in their areas of focus, frequently publishing in leading journals and industry outlets, appearing as subject matter experts in the media, and winning awards for the quality of their research. Areas of particular note in our department are teaching pedagogy, public rhetoric, storytelling surrounding gun violence, social media trends, family communication, cross-cultural communication, and organizational communication.
