We’re excited to welcome Max Overdevest, Thomas Dunbar, and Josh Marion, as the Center for Water Policy’s new fellows! Max is the Center’s fourth Water Policy and Communications Fellow who is also pursuing his master’s degree in Freshwater Sciences and Water Policy at the School of Freshwater Sciences. Thomas and Josh are joining the team as the sixth cohort of Water Policy Specialists through the Sea Grant UW Water Science-Policy Fellows program.

Max holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Florida. Before joining the Center for Water Policy, he worked in several undergraduate research roles studying topics ranging from the infant gut microbiome to science podcasting.

Thomas holds a Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from UW-Madison. In law school, they worked for the California Department of Justice in the Land Use and Civil Rights Enforcement Sections, in the Administrative Law Judge division of the California Public Utilities Commission, and at the nonprofit SAGE in New York City. They also worked as a student clinician in Santa Clara’s International Human Rights Clinic where their projects focused on environmental justice.

Josh holds a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in both Government and Music from Cornell University. During law school, he worked for the Conservation Law Foundation in Boston and the Indiana Conservation Law Center. He also worked for two years as a judicial intern in the Monroe County Circuit Court for the Honorable Geoffrey J. Bradley.

We’re looking forward to working with this new cohort to advance the Center’s research and communications on the restoration and conservation of freshwater resources.
