- Give students direct exposure to your organization
- Maintain contact with talented and dedicated students
- Develop your employees’ mentoring, coaching, and leadership skills
Program Dates:
- Contact Olivia Cross-McCants at orcross@uwm.edu for more information
Selection Process:
- Employers post a job shadow position on Handshake.
- Students apply for position
- Students are ranked based on major, career interests and qualifications, and resume
- Selected students complete a mandatory workshop prior to the selected shadow date
Job Shadow Schedules:
It is the responsibility of an employer partner to create the schedule of the shadow day. This can consist of tours of the organization, observing a job role, attending engaging meetings and participating in networking events. As an experiential learning opportunity, it is important for students to observe mission critical components of the role:
- Developing reports
- Customer service
- Crisis management
- Strategy development
- Leadership decision-making
