This semester, I work 25 hours a week at my internship. Can this qualify for the 400-level professional internship?

All 400-level professional internships need to be full-time, which is defined as a minimum of 400 hours over the
semester/term. This typically equates to an average of 40 hours a week for 10 weeks.

I have a human resources internship this semester, but I am a finance major. Can I still get credit for this internship?

No, you cannot. The responsibilities and duties of the internship must align with your major(s).

I am a Supply Chain & Operations Management (SCOM/Information Technology Management (ITM) double major and have already completed a professional internship for credit in SCOM, can I also complete one for ITM?

Yes, you can do an internship in both SCOM and ITM for credit. Only one internship per internship course.

I am majoring in General Business. What type of internship for credit courses can I do?

You are eligible for all business internship courses. The responsibilities of your internship will dictate what course you can do. For example, if it’s a marketing internship, then you should apply for the marketing internship for credit course.

Can I do BUS ADM 300 concurrently with my internship for credit?

Yes, Bus Adm 300 can be taken concurrently (at the same time as the internship for credit course).

I begin my internship next month. Where do I start?

Fill out the Internship for Credit Eligibilty Survey to double check your eligibility. If eligible, the survey will give you more information about how to complete the application form through Handshake. After you submit in Handshake, the platform will trigger an approval process with career services, your designated faculty supervisor, your site supervisor at the internship, and academic advisor. If fully approved, your academic advisor will enroll you in the course.

I tried contacting the designated faculty supervisor, but have not heard back from them and it has been a week. What should I do?

Once I submit my application, how will I know if it was approved?

In Handshake, click on the “Career Center”, then click on “Experiences” to show the experience that you submitted. Click on “View Details” to see progress of the approvals. Refer to this experiences section to attach position descriptions and offer letters as needed.

I begin my summer internship in early June, but the internship for credit course doesn’t start until late June. Will the hours completed in early June count towards the required hours?

Yes, for summer internships, they will count. However, be sure to complete your application for credits before you begin your internship.

I started my internship this past summer, can I get credit in the fall for my internship?

No, based on the policies decided by the faculty, credits only apply to the semester when you completed the internship experience. Learning outcomes and assigned activity must be established before any work is done.
