1. Find the TransLoc App in the App Store

    • Visit the TransLoc iOS app in the App Store.
    • International Students may need to set up a US Apple account to download the app. Learn how to create a US app store account.
    • Once you download it, you will be asked whether you want to allow TransLoc to use your location.
    • It is recommended you choose “Allow While Using App” or “Allow Once”. Do not choose “Don’t Allow”.
  2. Log in With the UWM Single Sign On

    • Click the Settings tab at the bottom, and then click Log in.
    • Enter your UWM.EDU email address.
    • Make sure to sign in with the UWM Single Sign on, which is used for Canvas, Outlook, OneDrive, and most other UWM sites.
  3. Navigate the Welcome Screen

    • After logging into your UWM account, you will see the welcome screen.
    • You should toggle “University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee” to show Be On the Safe Side (B.O.S.S.).
    • If this screen doesn’t appear, you may need to choose “Agency Preferences” in the Settings tab.
  4. Navigate the OnDemand Tab

    • You are now able to request rides when B.O.S.S. is in session!
    • In the OnDemand tab, you may see many services offered by B.O.S.S.
    • They have slightly different hours as they have different service areas.
    • Be sure you choose an active service (you may have to toggle through services), then click on it.
  5. Set the Drop Off Location and Passenger Details

    • To set the pick-up and drop-off locations, select each box. You can either enter an address or select a point on the map.
    • Choose the number of riders and whether you need an ADA service.
    • Be sure to read any applicable service announcements, as they contain important service information that may change over time.
    • The app provides an estimated time of arrival, but this is dependent on rider demand, weather, traffic, etc.
  6. Review the Information

    • Make sure to review all the details of your trip. If it’s correct, choose the “confirm details and request ride” button.
    • You will receive a confirmation message and realtime updates about your ride request.
    • The app will notify you when your vehicle has arrived.
Hours of Operation

Daily – 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

B.O.S.S. is closed for legal holidays (including Spring Break and between Christmas and New Years) and may close due to inclement weather.
