Biography

Gabriela Bustos is an architectural designer and XR artist with experience as a professor and researcher at the University of Zulia from 1999 - 2015, and UWM SARUP 2018-present. Her research focuses on using extended reality in the architectural design process within studio teaching. She led, designed, and implemented digital programs of virtual reality at the School of Architecture and Design, University of Zulia. She was Director of the Master of Informatics in Architecture Program, Coordinator and Chair of Digital Art at the Contemporary Art Museum of Zulia, Venezuela, from 2008 to 2011. She is part of the International Executive Committee of SiGraDi (2024-2026) and the SiGraDi Coordinator of PHD Workshops (2025). Gabriela has taught art at Catholic schools in Milwaukee since 2015 and is also a studio professor at SARUP UWM, where she researches architectural design with XR and transformable architecture. Gabriela founded the first VR elective at SARUP UWM, PLURIS XR Mentoring and Consulting, and co-founded the AMEIRA Architecture and Engineering team.
