Denim Day Keynote Speech by Gerald L Ignace Indian Health Center

April 26, 2023 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

The Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center (GLIIHC) is a medical clinic, pharmacy, dental clinic, and behavioral health center formed in response to the poor health and quality of care for Milwaukee’s Native American community. Since its founding in 1999, GLIIHC has been committed to improving the health, peace, and well-being of urban Native Americans in the Greater Milwaukee Area. Located on the Historic Mitchell Street of Milwaukee’s South Side, GLIIHC provides high-quality, culturally appropriate and accessible health services to its patients. In the state of Wisconsin, GLIIHC is one of 18 federally qualified health centers which serve to improve the health of underserved and vulnerable populations.

For Denim Day, we will hear from representatives of the Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center, to learn about the center’s history and accomplishments, as well as how we as a campus community can support organizations like GLIIHC in advocating for justice on issues of sexual violence.

For more information on GLIIHC, please visit their website here.

This event is held in collaboration with the Women’s Resource Center.
