As UWM is seeking AI technology to elevate our mission while managing risk, so too are many other institutions throughout the region, state, and nation who are focused on these objectives. Because there are many aspects of AI technology, support, and practices which can be readily shared, UWM has sought to foster several AI collaborations to aid in our work. These include:
- UW System AI Collaboration – amongst the campuses across the UW System
- Milwaukee and Madison Collaboration
- Milwaukee Higher Education CIO Collaboration – amongst several institutions within the regional Milwaukee market including Marquette University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Medical College of Wisconsin, and Waukesha County Technical College
Each will bring distinct opportunities for UWM to leverage expertise and practice to support our journey. Appendix A provides a detailed description of the work of the taskforce. Appendix B shows the UWM Generative AI Taskforce Charter. Appendix C shows the membership of the taskforce and workgroups.
The Responsible AI Workgroup provided an extensive summary of their work, including examples of practices at other institutions. This complete report is shown in Appendix D. The taskforce drew on numerous outside resources throughout the process. One example is shown in Appendix E from the MIT Sloan School of Management’s Presentation in a Webinar on Educause on Their Approach to AI Literacy and Support.
