German
UWM German is more than instruction in language—our courses are a pathway to understanding the German-speaking world and to acquiring the skills to navigate it successfully.
During any given semester, we offer beginning, intermediate and advanced German language courses, composition and conversation courses, cultural history courses, translation, and business courses. You will acquire the skills you need not only to converse, write, and read in German, but the necessary intercultural competencies to apply your knowledge in a diverse number of settings: from daily interactions on the streets of Berlin, to working in the German office of a corporation in Frankfurt, or representing a non-profit organization at a conference in Hamburg, to working in a translation firm in Milwaukee, or even pursuing an MA or PhD in German Studies.
