Healthy relationships are a significant part of every individual’s life. When I see the overall well-being of myself, I would like to balance my academics, professional, family, and social life equally so that my mental health will be good and I will be productive. Academic and professional life can be managed by incorporating a good organization and management strategy to handle our responsibilities in a productive way.
On the other hand, maintaining healthy relationships will have a different approach as the situations we face in the relationships might be unexpected and they cannot always be fixed with organization skills. So, here are a few ways that I plan to take care of my loved ones and maintain healthy relationships:
- As a daughter and sister, I check on my parents and siblings’ mental and physical health to make sure that they are okay by helping them to schedule required appointments. I also give them a strong feeling that I will be their strongest supporter at every point of life.
- As a friend, I make sure to connect with my close friends from school, college or the dearest ones from any point of my life. We have a great time talking about our memories and spending some quality time together. Also, I like to make sure to create a comfortable space for them to share their needs and thoughts so that they feel strong emotional support from my friendship.
- As a partner, I make sure to listen to the needs and concerns of my partner to give him a strong feeling that our partnership in life is important, which helps avoid miscommunication and fosters a sense of compassion in our relationship.
- As a student and worker on campus, I practice empathetic and friendly interactions with my coworkers and other students to create a sense of belonging, which will in turn help in fostering an inclusive community.
Spending some time reflecting on our relationships and trying to contribute in the best possible way will help us to build a positive and healthy relationship, which will improve our overall well-being.
