Tom Garcia, LPC

Tom is a Licensed Professional Counselor, having completed his undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point and earning his Master’s in Counselor Education from the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. Tom also has a work background in University Housing at UW-Whitewater and UW-Milwaukee. Tom has been with SHAW since Fall 2023.

Tom is a bilingual counselor fluent in English and Spanish and uses the framework of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to focus on values, identity, client relationships, and the importance of belongingness. Tom is integrative with his counseling approach and also utilizes techniques from Reality Therapy/Choice Theory, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Having a good fit or relationship with a counselor is the most important piece of the puzzle for having a positive experience in therapy and something Tom is proud of for giving you that voice.

Outside of SHAW, Tom enjoys the outdoors via walks, doing puzzles, talking about sports, fandoms, music, or anything that could be used to build relationships.
