Bridgette Knecht

  • Counseling Intern
Bridgette is a counseling intern working towards her master's degree in Social Work. She is a returning student after graduating from the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree. Having worked in UWM’s psychology department for seven years, UWM has been an integral part of Bridgette’s professional and academic career. Bridgette entered the social services field in 2023 when she realized that she desired to work more directly with clients and the community. She is grateful to have found the social work path to help her achieve these goals.
Upon graduation, Bridgette will begin working towards becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She would like to work with young adults, particularly in processing traumatic events by utilizing various therapeutic modalities and approaches such as somatic-experiencing, internal family systems, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
In her free time, Bridgette enjoys biking, cooking, reading, being in the sun, aerial arts, and spending time with loved ones.
