International Women’s Day

March 8, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Susan B. Anthony, a political activist and an advocate of women’s rights, fought for the women’s vote. When that right was not included in the 14th Amendment, she founded the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA) with Elizabeth Cady Stanton. It took until 1908, when 15,000 women marched through New York City to demand their rights, for International Women’s Day to be celebrated. It was not until August 18th, 1920 that white women were granted the right to vote, and until 1965 for all women to be able to vote. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the historical, social, political, and cultural accomplishments of women. It also observes support of taking action against gender inequality around the world. Organizations of all sizes come together just to show women how valuable they are in society today.

You can make a difference by wearing purple with your friends on March 8th to spread awareness and support the women in your life!
