Timeline

The UWM Student Union Renovation Project will be completed according to the following timeline.

Early Fall Semester 2021

  • Exterior concrete repair to Union façade
  • Prepare for new generator in Pangaea Mall

Late Fall Semester 2021

  • Column footing reinforcement in Gasthaus and northeast exterior stairs

Winterim 2021-2022

  • Reinforce building columns on all building levels to support new mechanical and HVAC penthouse on roof
  • Construction begins in lower level of previous bookstore to become the future home of Centers for Advocacy and Student Engagement (CASE)
    • Inclusive Excellence Center (IEC)
    • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans Resource Center (LGBTRC)
    • Military and Veteran’s Resource Center (MAVRC)
    • Women’s Resources Center (WRC).
  • Student Organization offices and storage areas on 3rd floor emptied

Early Spring Semester 2022

  • Ongoing construction of lower level of previous bookstore for CASE

Late Spring Semester 2022

  • Full office closures of
    • Student Involvement
    • Union Cinema
    • Union Art Gallery
    • Studio Arts and Crafts Centre

Summer 2022

  • Commencement May 22nd
  • Full building closure on May 23rd
  • PantherCard office temporarily relocated

Fall Semester 2022

  • Union re-opens
    • New locations for:
      • Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership & Research (CBLLR)
      • University Legal Clinic
      • Neighborhood Housing Office
      • Panther Shop
      • Books by eCampus
      • UWM Tech Store
      • PantherCard office
      • Event services
    • Opening:
      • All Union Campus Level Dining units
    • Closed: Union Art Gallery, 8th Note Coffeehouse, Gasthaus

Spring Semester 2023

  • On-going renovations
