Summit on Male Black Youth

The 6th annual Summit on Black Male Youth is set for Monday, March 18, and Tuesday, March 19, at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year’s theme is “Black Boys Thriving: Reimagining the Narrative.”
The UWM African Male Initiative, which organizes the summit, brings in presenters from the community and the university to engage and inform the young men. The Monday sessions will focus on young men in junior high and the Tuesday sessions will focus on high school students. More than 1,000 young men from southeastern Wisconsin are expected to attend each day.
Sessions will be held in the UWM Student Union, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd., Bolton Hall, 3210 N. Maryland Ave., and the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business, 3202 N. Maryland Ave.
Among this year’s sponsors are Bader Philanthropies, the City of Milwaukee Community Block Grant, City of Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention, Country Financial, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee County Office of African American Affairs, and the University of Wisconsin Credit Union.
