6. Elementary and Middle Education, BS – Reduced Credit (PDF)
The reduced-credit Elementary Education program is designed for non-traditional students – professionals, career changers, students who might find it difficult to attend traditional F2F courses. The current F2F program will continue. DPI notes that elementary ed is in dire need of teachers. The program consists of 94-97 credits and can be completed in three years if students utilize Winterim and summer.
The committee had questions about the academic integrity of online courses. Although the entire program can be completed online, field placement courses are conducted in person. The program is working on instructional design to create the most effective pedagogy and address issues of academic integrity.
Courses are currently being developed and have not yet been entered into CIM.
