  2. Minutes of May 12, 2025, meeting, the current meeting agenda, and the RPAC 2024-25 Annual Report were automatically approved

  4. RPAC Member Orientation & Office of Research 2025 Priorities
    Ali Abedi gave an overview of Research at UWM. He suggested strategies for supporting the R1 mission: integration of teaching, research, and innovation to achieve excellence, supporting undergraduate research to enhance the research pipeline, strategically invest to secure financial stability, and to invest in seed and planning grants to promote multi/cross/inter-disciplinary research. These strategies can be discussed in the future with this committee and at the Research Forums.

    Kris O’Connor gave an overview of the RPAC charter and a summary of the Office of Research roles (support, research development, facilitate collaborative research, internal grant programs, manage limited submission opportunities, and compliance).

    The Office of Research can provide the RPAC with background on policies, case studies, and the national landscape. The RPAC can provide the Office of Research with their perspective on proposed policies and programs and to suggest future topics for discussion.

    Kris and Jeff Nytes gave a preview of the revision to the Research Misconduct Policy that will be given to the RPAC soon. The revision is necessary to align with new federal rules for 2026.
