October 14, 2025-University Staff Committee- Minutes

  1. Call to Order-The meeting was called to order at 8:03 a.m.
  2. Approval of September 9, 2025 Minutes-The minutes were approved as submitted via auto consent
  3. Chair update-G. Dukes updated the committee on several items
    1. The Chancellor is having a Thankful Thursday event to thank faculty and staff for their hard work on October 16 at the Gasthaus in the Union. Open Enrollment for Benefits sign up for 2026 is open until the end of October.  Everyone is encouraged to fill out their forms as soon as possible.  If you have questions, there are open sessions and emails on the Human Resources website.
    2. Chair Dukes will be reaching out to those who are out on medical leave to remind them that we are thinking of them.  She has also reached out to S. Yasaitis’ widow to see how she is doing.
  4. Member reports
    • International Committee (IC)- K. Valerius is the member to the committee.  The committee has met once and will meet over the year and as business arises.
  5. New/Other Business
    • L. Eastman asked if there are any concerns that she can submit on behalf of the committee to the upcoming guests of the Senate.
      • R. Oehler-FAA visit to the Senate-  How can staffing shortages be addressed particularly in Mail Services?  Concerns were raised on timeliness of deliveries, perishable items could be at risk along with live items for lab research. How will morale be addressed?  How are staffing shortages being addressed?  How are staffing issues going to affect snow removal this winter?  Continued concerns of treatment of staff were discussed by the committee.
      • There was no other business.

VI. Adjournment-The meeting was adjourned at 10:39 a.m.
