IV. New Business

1. Program Review Follow-Up – Committee Interdisciplinary Major (PDF)

The undergraduate program review team recommended that the program be discontinued.

Sarah Riforgiate moved to approve the report. John Boyland seconded and the motion passed.

2. Undergraduate Program Review – Digital Arts and Culture (PDF)

The undergraduate program review team recommended that the program be continued. Further recommendations included adding an additional faculty position, increasing TA/administrative support, at least one L&S advisor specializing in DAC, and collecting data on recent graduates.

3. Language courses requesting prerequisite exemption

FRENCH 203Third-Semester French
GERMAN 203Third-Semester German
ITALIAN 203Third-Semester Italian
SPANISH 203Third-Semester Spanish

These courses are requesting GER designation in Humanities and Arts but have language prerequisites. First-semester courses aren’t suitable for GER as they don’t have the necessary cultural content and often have too many credits. Most students interested in language courses test into higher-level courses and retro credits don’t fit into the new GER paradigm.

Dave Clark moved to approve these courses with a prerequisite exemption. Sarah Riforgiate seconded and the motion passed.

The course was previously approved in Global, and the program was not sure where to put it. This is an important course that would best fit CP. The program should resubmit the course with the appropriate bucket designation and learning outcomes.
