- Updates from the Office of Research
Ali Abedi shared that 12 to 14 proposals are being prepared for the Department of Energy Genesis Mission.
UWM is taking the lead on a NSF program, AI-Ready America. UW – Madison, a few Milwaukee universities, some technical colleges, and several Wisconsin industries will be working together on this project.
There were 27 grant cancellations, but 10 of them have been restored and activated. The Office of Research is trying to fill the gap with industry collaborations. In the past month, 20 faculty industry seed grants and planning grants were awarded. These were funded through a Provost strategic fund.
The Office of Research internal grants were reactivated. - Discussion – Election of Chair for AY 2026-2027
This is Tory’s last year on the committee. Any continuing faculty member is eligible to be chair.
