Policy
- General UW System policies relating to ownership and copyright of instructional materials are contained in UW System Administrative Policy 1310, Copyrightable Instructions Materials Ownership, Use, and Control, revised November 24, 1997.
- Prior to the actual commencement of any work in which UWM may have an ownership interest, the dean of the appropriate school or college or administrator of the appropriate division, as well as the Office of Legal Affairs:
- shall be consulted regarding the possibility of copyright registration being made on behalf of the University;
- shall review any resulting contracts under which UWM is asked to surrender or accept an ownership interest.
In the event that copyrightable work in which UWM may have an ownership interest is developed during the course of work without the above steps having been taken, such steps shall be taken as soon as possible during/after the development of such work.
