Josh Skarda

I am incredibly honored to be recognized by Phi Beta Kappa this spring, before I graduate in May! I have gained so much invaluable experience in UWM's journalism program over the past three years, learning more about myself as a writer, storyteller and member of my community. The most enriching experience that I had while at UWM was the opportunity to do on-the-ground disaster relief reporting in both Los Angeles, California and Asheville, North Carolina as part of an immersion course in the JAMS department, opening my eyes to the power of storytelling and helping me come into myself as a writer and journalist. I have also had the incredible opportunities to serve as a student music director for UWM's campus radio station Prowl Radio, to intern at Up North News doing editorial coverage of the 2024 presidential election, and to write freelance for several local and national music publications. I am excited to continue to live and learn in Milwaukee post-graduation, and I am incredibly thankful to be recognized by Phi Beta Kappa!
