Lena Etta Harms
- Junior, Political Science and International Studies majors
My name is Lena E. Harms, and I am from Madison, Wisconsin. I am currently a second year student double-majoring in Political Science and International Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Aside from strengthening my ‘hard’ skills through coursework, UWM has given me numerous outlets, one being my job as a Peer Mentor, to develop my ‘soft’ skills while also gaining an awareness of potential post-baccalaureate, academic/career opportunities. This community-driven leadership role as a Peer Mentor has tremendously facilitated my personal, academic, and professional growth. Additionally, the support of friends and family in motivating me through my degree, as well as the backing of the Political Science Department in nurturing my love of government and politics, must not go unrecognized. Throughout the remainder of my bachelor’s degree, I aspire to thoroughly combine my knowledge of politics and international relations to broaden my understanding of world affairs. It is with utmost gratitude that I accept the invitation from Phi Beta Kappa and share my enthusiasm for the opportunities that this organization provides.
