All news releases distributed on behalf of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and its schools, colleges and administrative departments must be sent through Marketing & Communications’ Media Services team. The content of such releases must be approved by the vice chancellor for Marketing & Communications or his designee, and releases must be sent from the university’s official email account, which is managed by the Media Services team.

The two exceptions to this policy are:

  • The marketing manager for the Peck School of the Arts may send news releases announcing Peck School events to relevant arts and community publications. Such releases should include a Peck School of the Arts logo or header, not the UWM logo or university header.
  • The marketing manager for the School of Continuing Education may send news releases announcing school events and classes. Such releases should include a School of Continuing Education logo or header, not the UWM logo or university header.

These exceptions apply only to news releases announcing events and do not extend to announcements about grants, faculty research and other endeavors at the schools.
