M³ partners dedicated to helping students prepare financially for college
Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid — commonly called the FAFSA — is just the first step that high school students need to take to help pay for college.
Turning in the FAFSA unlocks access to grants, scholarships and other types of aid that can help make higher education more affordable.
Through the M3 partnership, UW-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Area Technical College and Milwaukee Public Schools are committed to helping all MPS high school students prepare academically and financially for college.

Students and their families are encouraged to complete the FAFSA now to cross off this critical step early during a busy senior year in high school.
New this school year at MPS is a guideline that requires high school students to fill out the FAFSA as a graduation requirement. UWM Chancellor Mark Mone and MATC President Vicki Martin have offered strong support for the change.
MPS
MPS College and Career Centers offer free support for all Milwaukee-area students in grades 6 to 12. Visit this College and Career Centers page for locations and hours.
Staff can help students with many tasks like filling out the FAFSA, applications for scholarships and college and scheduling college tours and visits.
MATC
The comprehensive MATC Cost, Scholarships and Aid page can help answer many questions and direct students to resources for financial aid and scholarships.
Scholarship opportunities include the free-tuition MATC Promise and full-ride Checota MATC Scholarship Program. The page also includes a schedule for in-person and virtual FAFSA completion visits.
UWM
Scholarships are a type of gift aid and do not need to be repaid – another reason why it’s so important to unlock these opportunities by filling out the FAFSA.
