First MPS students earn college credit through M³ Early College

Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Area Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee are working together to create a true public education network called M³ (pronounced M-cubed).

The initiative reached a major milestone with the graduation of the first M³ Early College pilot program class. The 32 MPS students who comprised the class earned 10 college credits over the Spring 2019 semester by taking courses at MATC and UWM, getting a taste of college life.

Students spoke about their experiences after the Early College graduation ceremony on the UWM campus on May 30, 2019.

Early College enrollment has doubled for 2019-20, with more than 60 students taking 19 college credits over the course of school year.
