College Tours Opening Doors to the Future

M³ (M-Cubed) is all about opening doors of opportunity for students.

One way that starts is when students get a glimpse of what their future could look like. The M³ Academic & Career Planning Team, along with other partners from across our three institutions, plans and directs tours of MATC and UWM for all MPS students in ninth and 10th grades.

These tours give MPS students early exposure to the colleges’ diverse educational settings and career pathways, empowers students to make informed decisions about their future, and fosters a proactive approach to academic and career planning.

In October and November 2023, more than 900 ninth-grade students from 20 MPS high schools visited and toured UWM’s main campus. They learned about UWM academics, student life, and resources that support success; discussed possible college majors and careers; and heard from a panel of current UWM students.

And on March 14, 2024, all four MATC campuses – Downtown Milwaukee, Mequon, Oak Creek and West Allis – will offer career exploration to all MPS tenth grade students. There will be sessions in the morning and afternoon. Information about transfer opportunities to four-year colleges will also be provided. MPS students will be able to sign up to hear about specific careers, and MATC faculty and staff will be asked to participate.
