More MPS grads going to MATC, UWM

Data show clear impact of M-Cubed partnership’s bridges from K-12 to higher education

MILWAUKEE – More Milwaukee Public Schools graduates are attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Milwaukee Area Technical College, according to new data from the M-Cubed partnership that brings Milwaukee’s three largest public educational institutions together. 

M-Cubed builds bridges that help MPS students prepare for and go to college, regardless of their destinations. 

Efforts include:

• Academic and career plans for every MPS student that include college discussions, 
• An M-Cubed Milwaukee Parent Institute to help MPS families navigate high school and college success, 
• Tours of MATC and UWM for thousands of MPS students each year, 
• Work-based learning opportunities at all three institutions so students can envision themselves in a career and the educational path to get there,
• Dual enrollment opportunities so MPS students can earn UWM and MATC college credits, including through M-Cubed College Connections, 
• M-Cubed Smart Start bridge program that helps MPS students register for classes and start at MATC and UWM as a group, and more. 

The data show:

• Enrolled in the Fall 551 MPS Class of 2025 graduates went to MATC, a 32% increase from 419 in 2023 
• 478 MPS Class of 2025 graduates went to UWM, a 61% increase from 297 in 2023
