Who We Are
The User Services Division works to strengthen UWM’s pursuit of excellent teaching, learning, and research. Our mission is to foster student information literacy, strengthen UWM scholarly communication, provide outreach to diverse student populations, and support UWM in building a top research environment.
Our Teams
Teaching & Learning (University Strategic Direction: Outstanding Learning Environment)
- Collaborate to design Information Literacy Initiatives that help students become more efficient and effective learners
- Create and promote Open Education Resources to support faculty teaching and student learning
- Foster student led learning through support of Online, Distance, and UW Flex
- Coordinate one-on-one research planning and 24/7 point of need help for students
Research Services (University Strategic Direction: Research Excellence)
- Deliver specialized research services
- Connect UWM researchers to library resources and services
- Educate graduate students, faculty and campus researchers on standards, trends and emerging practices in academic research
- Optimize research collections and e-resources to meet UWM’s research and curricular needs
User Experiences (University Strategic Direction: Community Engagement and Talent Pipeline)
- Strategically assess Golda Meir learning spaces, library services, and technologies that impact our users
- Communicate library value to potential and enrolled students through recruitment and orientation events
- Intentionally outreach to diverse underrepresented populations both externally and internally with the goal of fostering campus partnerships
