UWM INTERNATIONAL DESSERT COMPETITION RULES AND GUIDELINES
Date: Monday April 21, 2025
Time: 3:30-5:00pm
Location: Lubar Entrepreneurship Center (2100 E Kenwood Blvd. UWM Welcome Center)
All UWM undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to enter (individually or as a team).
Entries must be delivered to LEC between 2:00 pm and 3:15 pm.
Many thanks to the Department of Global Studies and the Department of Ancient & Modern Languages, Literature and Cultures, Curtin Hall 877, 739 and 778 have limited fridge space for temporary storage.
Judging begins at 3:45 pm.
Public tasting and demonstrations begin around 4:00-4:15 pm (depending on length of judging).
Awards ceremony estimated around 4:30 pm.

CONTEST RULES
1. One entry per team or individual.
2. Entries must be prepared from scratch. A $25 gift card will be provided to each entry to defray ingredient expenses.
3. All entries must be submitted covered and either on a disposable serving dish (for example, a paper plate enclosed in a Ziploc bag or covering) or covered on a reusable dish labeled with the owner’s name on the bottom (for example, in a labeled bowl, covered with plastic wrap). If you use your own dish or other personal property to present your entry, you do so at your own risk.
4. Any leftover entries will be the property of the contest and will be used for the tasting activity.
5. All entries must provide at least one dozen servings. For example, if entering a cake, please enter an entire cake; if entering cookies or cupcakes, please enter one dozen of them; if entering a dessert in another form or shape, please provide a quantity sufficient to serve at least 12 judges and attendees.
6. Entries should be identified by the name of the dessert and the country of origin (for example, Black Forest Cake from Germany).
7. Entries must be accompanied by the recipe, a photo of you preparing the entry, and a brief description of the cultural significance of the dish. This material must be displayed next to the entry for judges and the public to see.
Note: With your permission, the recipes will be collected for distribution to the public. If you choose not to give this permission, this will not affect whether your entry will win a prize.
8. Registration is limited to twenty individual contestants and twenty teams. Each individual or team that is planning to compete must register by Monday, March 31 or until registration capacity is reached, whichever comes first. To register, click on Registration on the competition website.
9. All dessert entrees must be attended by someone who made them or a representative. If you are unable to attend the competition yourself, a friend may attend in your place to answer questions and help to serve the dessert. Unattended entries will not be included in the judging.
10. Entries will be judged by a panel of judges selected by the competition’s organizers. Judges will include members of the university community and other community members from the Milwaukee area.
11. Winning entries will receive prizes donated from local businesses. The decisions of the judges are final.
