Resources

The Language Resource Center (LRC) is housed in the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM). The university currently offers instruction in a wide range of languages, including American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Ancient Greek, Hebrew, Hmong, Irish Gaelic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Ojibwe, Oneida, Portuguese, Potawatomi, Russian, and Spanish.

The LRC provides technical support, classroom technology assistance, and hybrid and digital teaching support for language programs across the university. In addition, the Center contributes to instructional material development, coordinates student worker projects, and supports professional development initiatives for language faculty and instructors.

The LRC is home to several specialized learning and production spaces, including an active learning classroom (developed with generous support from the Educational Technology fund), the Language Oasis collaborative learning space, and multiple specialized labs. These include an audio recording studio, a green screen video production studio, a faculty development lab, a language learning gaming lab, and a lightboard studio. The Center also supports two distance learning laboratories designed to facilitate remote and hybrid language instruction.

Over the years, we have been developing in house learning and teaching language materials for our students and instructors. Here, you will find learning resources in twelve different languages that will be incorporated in this area: Arabic, Chinese, English as a Second Language, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
