With the growing integration of active transportation and the affordability of crowdsourced data, there’s a clear opportunity to bridge the data gap in transportation planning and decision-making. This project aims to harness crowdsourced bicycle data, alongside land use and socio-economic data in Wisconsin, to create a robust framework for non-motorist safety enhancement. The primary objectives of this project include: (1) collecting extensive crowdsourced data to achieve comprehensive statewide coverage; (2) computing bicycle link-level volumes for various types of facilities, including on-street (streets, bike lanes) and off-street (trails); (3) analyzing cyclist injury risks, and producing detailed maps of bike ridership and crash hotspots; and (4) formulating policy recommendations based on the insights gained from the bike risk analysis.
