Over the last few years, the IT community has collaborated across campus to create the IT and Data Adaptive Strategic Plan. An overview of the plan, as well as the IT & Data Governance structures that were created alongside this effort, are now available for the UWM community to review on our new webpage.
The strategic plan and governance structure were formally adopted in June 2025. It will be assessed each year to determine if any changes are needed to maximize impact and will adapt to any evolving technology or challenges.
IT & Data Adaptive Strategic Plan
The strategic plan will create a framework for UWM to better utilize technology and adapt to exciting opportunities and evolving obstacles that are a natural part of technology development. It will allow UWM to align technology and data to better serve our students, faculty and staff. It can guide our campus community to achieve new technology goals, such as:
- Offering a well-rounded digital experience for students; helping them on their academic journey through easily accessible technology services.
- Create more effective administrative processes for employees.
- Develop strong data support structures and digital environments for the research community at UWM.
IT & Data Governance
IT & Data Governance offers a structure for the strategic direction of initiatives defined by the plan. The IT Oversight Committees review proposals relating to IT & Data, help with decisions regarding campus priorities on such efforts, and provide guidance to the IT & Data Portfolio Committees. These committees are developing ideas and proposals on topics such as artificial intelligence, teaching and learning technologies, data, research and so much more.
